Description of Project:
The project was split into 4 phases comprising the Western refurbishment, The Eastern refurbishment and connection to The Brickworks, 8 screen cinema for Reading Cinemas with parking and expansion future proofing below, and a new Medical Centre. The Brickworks is a new dining lane comprising 7 food and beverage tenancies.
Construction was carried out while the shopping centre remained in operation with a strong focus on minimising impact to existing tenants.
Role Undertaken:
Engaged by listed real estate fund Kiwi Property Group, Pragmatix provided full project management services for the refurbishment of large parts of the existing LynnMall Shopping Centre including the creation of the multiple award- winning entertainment and lifestyle precinct “The Brickworks.”
This included carrying out the Engineer to Contract role, as well as leading the Design through concept, RC, BC and finally through the construction phase. Acting on behalf of Kiwi, we led the procurement of the main contractor and acted as the Project Manager throughout.
Value added to project:
By creating a collaborative environment with the client and main contractor through an ECI engagement, the project was fast tracked with the $28m works completed in 10.5 months and all works were completed to programme and within budget. Obviously, this provided significant surplus value to the client.
The Project was awarded “Best in Class” and an Excellence prize in the 2016 Property Council of New Zealand Awards.
