PROJECT MANAGEMENT KEY INFORMATION
| Project Name: Kmart Relocation Project Client: Dexus (formerly AMP Capital) Location: Manukau Supa Centa, Auckland Project Timeline: Q2 2021 – Q1 2023 Approx value: $25m+ Sector: Retail Scope: Demolition and construction of new Kmart store covering 6,000m2, and refurbishment of former Kmart tenancy for two new tenants, Zone Bowling and Fitness Cartel. |
Description of Project:
The project required the demolition of four existing retail units and construction of a brand new store to Kmart’s specification, in addition to seismically upgrading the units adjacent to the new tenancy.
Once the new Kmart was operational, we managed the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the previous Kmart tenancy to create two new major tenancies, Zone Bowling and Fitness Cartel.
Role Undertaken:
Pragmatix were engaged as Project Manager and Engineer to Contract.
Value added to project:
This was a complex project that was delivered in the middle of a trading retail centre complicated by many of the post COVID issues construction sites experienced. The project experienced further complication because utility provider information was incorrect which required us to actively redesign the surrounding utilities surrounding the new centre and re-sequencing the works to minimise the disruption to the programme.
Through this challenging process, we became a trusted ally of the client and were able to work with them to come to a financially acceptable outcome from an exceptionally challenging project.
Personnel:
Rob Moon – Project Director, Engineer to Contract
Angus Young – Project Manager, Engineer’s Representative
