Description of Project:
This project involves developing a 1000m2 facility on a 5000m2 lot, including truck docks, refrigerated storage, and office space, all tailored to support Refrigafreighters’ expansion into the region.
Role Undertaken:
Pragmatix were engaged by Tainui Group Holdings to deliver the project management services for Refrigafreighters’ new depot at the Ruakura Superhub in Waikato, New Zealand. Tasked with delivering this $12m project from design to handover in just 12 months, we provided Project Management and Engineer to the Contract services (respectively) and partnered with Calder Stewart to deliver the project under a NZS3916 contract.
Value added to the Project:
Prior to engaging with Calder Stewart, Pragmatix lead a design team to develop the project outline brief which was used to structure the tender and provide the Principles Requirements document to support the NZS3916:2013 Design and Build procurement. Commencing at the end of October 2023, the ATL had been signed with an opening date in November 2024 and the challenge was raised to the team to design, consent and deliver this project before then. Of the three tenderers, one major contractor pulled out as they believed it was impossible to meet those target dates. The project started onsite in April and despite building during winter the project was delivered on-time, including overcoming wet weather delays and minor consenting delays.
Neither TGH nor Refrigafreighters’ spent any of their project contingency funds.
