PROJECT MANAGEMENT KEY INFORMATION
| Project Name: IntraCare Angiography Refurbishment Client: IntraCare Limited Location: Epsom Project Timeline: Q3 2021 – Q2 2023 Approx value: $5m+ Sector: Healthcare, Fitout Scope: Refurbishment and extension of existing IntraCare Angiography tenancy at Mercy Ascot |
Description of Project
The project scope covered demolition and full refurbishment of an existing fitout and extending into an adjacent tenancy to create a new procedure space for IntraCare who provide Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Interventional Radiology procedures.
Role Undertaken:
Pragmatix carried out coordination with client user groups, the new imaging equipment supplier, third party suppliers and Landlord, ensuring we minimised the impact on clinical operations in providing an upgraded IntraCare facility.
We also carried out the Engineer to Contract services as per NZS3910.
Value added to project:
When we were brought on board our first activity was a review of the concept design, and the programme expectations of the client. It became apparent from the extent of the scope, design and procurement lead times for the specialist medical equipment that the client’s target completion milestones were not achievable. We advised the client to postpone construction to ensure full design, consenting and procurement to derisk onsite delay. Our review saved the facility being out of use for several months and saved the client significant costs and lost income.
We rationalised the planned works to the first floor to reduce disruption and operational impact on the client. Intrusive surveys were agreed with the client to provide the detail for the structural requirements, which allowed for the re-use of support structural steel, mitigating costs and time for the structural works. Pragmatix engaged early with the third-party suppliers for builder’s work scope definition and worked with the preferred main contractor to provide buildability advice, which allowed us to ensure all material procurement was completed prior to commencement on site.
Personnel:
Rob Moon as Director and Client Advisor.
Angus Young as Project Manager and Engineer to Contract.
“As a client, we engaged Pragmatix to project manage the complete refurbishment of our expanded angiography suite. This was a complex and challenging environment in which their expertise, deep understanding of our sector and masterful coordination helped guide us to an outstanding result that we are truly proud of.”
