PROJECT MANAGEMENT KEY INFORMATION
| Project Name: Te Whare Kura O Maniapoto, Roll Growth Client: Ministry of Education, Capital Works Location: Maniapoto Project Timeline: Q3 2023 – Q2 2024 Approx value: $2.2m Sector: Education Scope: Extension of a two-storey classroom block, turning two classes into four, including interior upgrades and additional toilet block |
Description of Project:
This project involved a two-storey extension of the current building to provide much needed additional classrooms in response to roll growth, plus a new toilet block for the senior students. Two classrooms were expanded and turned into four, with interior upgrades to maximise the value of the space for both Tamariki and teachers.
Role Undertaken:
Pragmatix managed the construction phase of the project, overseeing all aspects of the remediation works and providing Engineer to the Contract and Project Management Services.
Value Added to the Project:
During this project, Pragmatix, Woodview, and the School collaborated closely to minimise disruptions during term time and ensure the school could continue to always operate. Effective communication was crucial due to the Kura’s remote location. During construction, the council raised a significant variation requiring additional fire rating for the design and despite the magnitude and timing of this change, Pragmatix led the design and construction team to devise an efficient design solution that could be implemented with minimal impact on cost and schedule. Decking timber and the access stair were able to be retained and re-used to minimise cost and ensure the best value for the Kura.
Personnel involved:
Leigh Booker – Project Management
Michael Freeman – Engineer to the Contract services
