Description of Project:
The Deanwell Primary School Weathertightness Remediation project involved weather tightness remedial works on the 1970’s hall including roof and cladding replacement, changes to the roof profile and minor structural and fire upgrades.
Role Undertaken:
Pragmatix managed the construction phase of the project, overseeing all aspects of the remediation works and providing Engineer to the Contract and Project Management Services.
Value added to the Project:
Due to the extent of the remediation required, the project team was able to present a solution which provided better longevity of the building and provide a bigger, brighter and healthier space for the school. Other value that the team were able to bring to the school was to incorporate changes into the entry way to create a more welcoming formal entry for visitors. The entrance was reconfigured as a traditional waharoa (gateway) where the school could perform a pōwhiri (formal welcome) for guests. The wide maihi (barge boards) were added to enable the school to mount carvings or artwork. A collaborative approach calling on the expert services of Respond and their sister company Prendos led to detailed and well-coordinated multi-disciplinary design. This resulted in a construction phase with Mitchell Construction that ran incredibly smoothly and stayed on schedule as per the original programme and significantly within budget.
