Description of Project:
This project at Metlifecare’s Somervale Retirement Village will see the number of homes increase from 83 to 214, with the staged construction over several years of nine two- to four-level architecturally designed independent living apartment buildings, a new amenity building, and attractive landscaping.

This is the first stage of a proposed 5 stage master plan to completely revamp this existing Retirement Village.

Role Undertaken:
Our role was to procure and lead the design team from concept, through to Resource Consent and eventually Building Consent and main contractor procurement for the first stage.  Upon approval of the Resource Consent with Tauranga Regional Council, Pragmatix were engaged as Engineer to Contract for the new Amenities Building that is the centre piece of the new development.

Value added to project:
Pragmatix procured and managed the consultant team delivering the RC and Stage 1 design on Metlifecare’s behalf and led the procurement of Fosters Construction under an ECI process.  We were able to work with MLC and provide a recommended procurement strategy that met their goals of a collaborative main contractor involvement whilst maintain competitive pricing to ensure value for money.
